The Crazy Math Behind a Rom-Com
The numbers coming out from Cocktail 2 are truly astronomical, at the moment. It is due to be released in the theaters on the 19th of June, 2026. Whilst we expected a fun continuation to the 2012 original, nobody predicted that a romantic comedy would come with a whopping production budget of 150 crore. That is a phenomenal sum for a film without any spaceships or major CGI battles and it’s evident Maddock Films was ready to spend big! It was reported that 95 crore went towards production. A huge part of the movie was shot in Sicily. 20 crore were spent on marketing and promotions of the film so as to dominate the summer window.
The Massive Pay Gap on Set
What’s truly mind-blowing is the way the cast budget has been split. 35 crore have been allotted just for the three leads of the movie, but this was by no means an even split. Shahid Kapoor apparently walked away with a staggering sum of 21 crore while Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna received 8 crore and 6 crore respectively. Naturally, the internet had a lot to say about this pay discrepancy, especially since the two actresses have both had incredibly successful box-office numbers in recent times and both of their characters are integral to the love triangle.
A One Lakh Promotional Look
Despite receiving the lowest sum for the film, Rashmika is clearly not compromising on her wardrobe. The cast is currently undertaking various heavy press promotions and Rashmika was recently spotted with Shahid and Kriti in a very simple yet expensive ensemble. She eschewed the large sequins and gown for something more muted; a black floral midi dress by Hemant and Nandita which accentuated her silhouette.
The dress alone costs about 20,520 and it was the addition of Jimmy Choo Brigitte 100 pumps worth about 82,500 that shot her entire outfit’s price above the one Lakh mark! She kept her accessories simple and was only wearing some small stone earrings and had her hair in soft waves, a very understated but put together look. Her on-screen wardrobe however compared to Shahid’sstyling cost during the Italy shoot, remain highly confidential.
