According to a new report producer Ramesh Taurani is working on a reboot of the action thriller series. It has been reported that Aamir Khan has been approached and is in talks to star as the lead whereas Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff have both heard the script and liked the concept. Nothing is yet confirmed or official but it has been reported that all 3 actors are in the fray to play lead roles as of now whereas the story and cast have still not been locked in as of now.
There are a lot of reports of Aamir Khan starring in the film and it is indeed one of the things on people’s minds.
Thisnew installment is apparently being crafted to be very different from the earlier Race film with new direction,new locations etc, though all the ingredients that define this film series — i.e., suspense, twists, and all the kick-ass action — will stay in place.
The latest reports indicate that not only is Aamir Khan interested in the role, but he is also closely involved in the development of the script. A source told Pinkvilla, “Aamir feels the reboot needs a fresh breath of air to the series, and he is contributing by getting involved in the script to help build a more potent story.” This could take some time and it might be too soon for Aamir to confirm his role in the film just yet and this is indeed the actor’s process where he is very particular about the scripts before he signs anything on.
This could suggest that a different route will be taken by the makers as not just the actors they want a new direction and a new premise, and they do not want the same old formula with a new face.
The project may turn into something with a large star cast now and is planned as an action thriller.
The other two films which have been doing the rounds of discussions are Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff. Both these young actors have heard the script and have really appreciated the story it has been reported. Details of their characters have not yet been revealed, although there is a discussion of all three playing major roles and whether Aamir Khan still plays the lead or is an important addition to a larger ensemble. With a new direction given to the franchise it may turn out to be a different combination of actors that are cast in the film.
If the three actors end up collaborating, this film would be the first movie they feature in together. For now, audiences will have to wait for confirmation from producer Ramesh Taurani, the actor Aamir Khan, director Vijay Krishna Acharya (who was reported to direct earlier, we shall delve into that), producers. The director and producer’s final call on casting is yet to come for what looks to be a very exciting collaboration.
Another crucial development reported for this particular project is that Vijay Krishna Acharya has been roped in to direct. As mentioned earlier, Aamir Khan has worked with Acharya for films like Dhoom 3, Thugs of Hindostan-these were blockbusters of action films, and both of them combined, they are sure to create fireworks in the new Race film too. In reports of his joining the Race 3 reboot director, a well-placed insider stated to a popular portal, “Vijay sir and Aamir make a great action pair. They both are looking to outdo themselves here and bring a lot of fresh vision to the franchise which desperately needs one.”
However, there are no formal statements made about the development yet and both the actors and directors are expected to give their final call only once the script and story are exactly how Aamir Khan envisions it.
It was mentioned by producer Ramesh Taurani earlier in the year that Race 3 will not have the original protagonist Akshaye Khanna in it and no new cast members have been confirmed yet but the script is on in full force. It seems that only when the movie script is perfectly ready it will become official as all are eager to mark this franchise into a successful new journey after Race 3 in 2018 which star-studded Salman Khan as its leading face. But if producers still decide to try out the new Race with their new director of choice in combination with the names like Aamir Khan, Tiger Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra the film would definitely bring some exciting performances from their combined acting charisma to the screens once more. However, Aamir also is lined up to be working on ‘Lalkaara’ next and post that has also apparently confirmed 3 Idiots 2 so this collaboration with the new Race reboot might take a while.
