Richa Chadha Opens Up About ‘Fun years’ of Husband Ali Fazal’s Career: ‘I Proudly Witness… Actor Richa Chadha has opened up about her husband Ali Fazal’s struggles and years of hard work before he gained popularity in Indian films and Hollywood.
To Richa, Ali’s struggle feels more personal since she’s seen his career up close. Speaking to in a recent interview, she recalled hearing about his beginnings, the skepticisms surrounding his decision to pursue films and even comments from people in the industry who thought he would not make it.
Richa Says 2026 Is Special for Ali Fazal
Some of Ali Fazal’s notable projects in 2026 are Raakh, Lust Stories 3 and Mirzapur: The Movie.
Talking about his recent work, Richa said, “I am glad to see he is getting recognised after all these years of hard work.
“What a year he’s having, how can I not champion him,” she said.
“Everyone’s reaction isn’t just the response of a wife who is rooting for her husband. I’ve known Ali for over 20 years and I’ve seen the worst side of his job.
“For me to see my work come to fruition in 2026 is happiness in the purest form, Richa said.
She Remembers His Difficult Early Years
Richa had fond memories of Ali when he was still trying to find his foothold as an actor.
She said he used to have a small flat and everything he had was on a bike.
” He lived in a shack, had only a bike,” she remembered as she reflected on his childhood.
Richa said, “Ali’s success was not overnight. It required him to go the extra mile while having to deal with a lot of uncertainty regarding his career.”
That’s one reason she feels his current success doesn’t have the same significance to her.

The actor said she was approached by two entertainment industry executives and were told:
“Iss ladke ka kuchh nahi hoga.”
The comment was a polite way of saying that they did not think Ali would make it.
Years later, Richa reflects on those comments in the light of Ali’s subsequent career.
“To see him pushing through the doubt that’s surrounded him has been really meaningful for me, in his latest professional endeavors,” she said.

Richa recalled how one of Ali’s early international exposures was received.
Ali co-starred with Judi Dench in Stephen Frears’ 2017 film Victoria & Abdul, which chronicled the friendship between the monarch and her Indian servant Abdul Karim.
Ali portrayed Abdul Karim, which allowed him to work alongside one of Britain’s most famous actors.
Richa said that even so, they were asked by others.
She said she heard remarks like, “Isko kaise mil gaya?,” about how Ali got the part.
For Richa, getting the chance itself was just part of the accomplishment.
“It is very difficult to go up against Judi Dench,” she said.
From Supporting Roles to Major Projects
Ali Fazal started with support roles before gradually progressing to more prominent parts.
He earned fame through projects like Fukrey and went to an even bigger audience with the Mirzapur franchise, in which he plays Guddu Pandit.
