A 2nm process technology goes into the building of the processor that is made to cater to ardous apps, heavy games, and multitasking. But the One Plus 16 vs Apple’s latest iPhone may come down to the benchmark and the workload. By Gadgets 360.

Benchmark Scores Put Performance in Focus

Prior to release, the One Plus 16 was said to have scored over 5.38 million points in AnTuTu V12. This score suggested that the device would have powerful processor and graphics performance, but benchmark scores aren’t always comparable across different platforms.

The initial Geekbench scores are a bit more mixed. According to a report by Phone Arena, a test unit of a One Plus 16 scored 3,082 points in single core test and 11,262 points in multi core test. While, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max reportedly scored better in single core performance, Apple’s A20 Pro posted a marginally higher score in the multi core test. Phone Arena

While the results point to One Plus 16 providing comparable performance, especially with high graphics, they cannot suggest that the One Plus 16 is faster than the best iPhone across all use cases. Final comparisons will only be made with retail devices, optimised software, cooling and sustained performance.

Display and Battery Are Major Highlights

16 has a 6.78 inch display with an advertised 185Hz refresh rate for supported gaming titles. With a higher refresh rate, games and animations can feel much more fluid. However, this feature is limited to specific games and applications.

Another apparent feature of this smartphone is the presence of 9,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. If you use your smartphone extensively for gaming, video streaming and complex applications, then this large battery capacity can be a real boon. Battery life will, of course, vary according to usage, display brightness and network usage.

Camera(s) and Other Features

The One Plus 16 is expected to house a triple rear camera set-up with a 200 megapixel camera and two 50 megapixel camera on the rear. On the front, there is expected to be a 50 megapixel camera. As specifications go, this indicates that One Plus is aiming at flagship level photography as well as performance.

It features Android 17 with ColorOS 17 on the Chinese market and is available in a variety of RAM and storage configurations. The specs stand out for the mid-range segment, but camera and general use performance will be judged through standalone reviews.

Can It Beat Apple’s Latest iPhone?

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 offers the One Plus 16 a solid technical footing, especially when it comes to gaming and graphics heavy processing. Nevertheless, the benchmark results we can see so far do not show a clear overall win against the A20 Pro chip-powered Apple iPhone 18 Pro models.

For an apples-to-apples comparison, we’d need to see retail devices tested in the same tests such as extended gaming, thermal performance, battery consumption, camera performance and daily use of applications. The One Plus 16 is available in China, but the phone’s India availability is not the part of the equation for Indian consumers. Gadgets 360
