Arvind Kejriwal Accuses PM Modi of Weaponizing Political Machinery to Crush AAP in Delhi and Across States

The Eternalizing Struggle to survive in the Capital.

The January of this year has seen the creation of a dramatic escalation of animosity in the political scene of New Delhi. It is the first time Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal has made his most aggressive attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing the party workers as well as the press, the former Chief Minister made allegations that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is systematically weakening the opposition. He asserted that the central government has reached out of the political rivalry to the active elimination campaign. As Kejriwal mentions, the state machine as a whole is being armed against AAP to stamp out its remaining presence.

According to Kejriwal, the BJP lost the 2025 Assembly elections and this was not enough. According to him, the end game of the Prime Minister is to clear the Aam Aadmi Party of the Indian political landscape. The leader of the AAP cited the recent happenings in the Delhi Legislative Assembly as a clear indication of such strategy. He said that he heard opposition voices being violently shut in the house by suspensions and marshals. This, according to him, is a concerted action to avoid any questioning of the existing administration policies.

The claims are focused on the supposed misuse of investigational agencies such as ED and CBI. Kejriwal emphasized that despite AAP shifting to the opposition benches, legal persecution of its leaders has increased. He described the current investigations as a witch-hunt which was meant to keep the party leadership embroiled in court battles. The ex-Chief Minister stressed the point that these agencies are not independent entities anymore, but the projections of the ruling party. According to him, this weaponization compromises the very fabric of a democratic system of India.

Another issue raised by Kejriwal was the strangulation of the party funds. He made allegations that there is intimidation of donors and their accounts are being audited on a continual basis in order to put the party in a paralytic state. The story which he is creating is a David versus Goliath fight in which the playing field is greatly skewed. He cautioned that in case these tricks should succeed against AAP, no opposition party in India could have been safe. The rhetoric is full of a sense of desperation as the party struggles to stay relevant in the national politics.

The Scandalous Story of the Atishi Video Row.

One of the major points of conflict in this conflict is the Leader of the Opposition, Atishi. Recently the BJP accused her of issuing derogatory statements against Sikh Gurus, a fact that aroused massive outrage. Nevertheless, AAP has strongly stood in its defence of its leader asserting that the video under question was manipulated. Kejriwal used this incidence as one of the best examples of dirty tricks department at work. He alleged that the BJP IT cell had been producing fabricated stories to cause religious communalism and attack AAP leaders.

This was a big scandal when the police filed an FIR out of the alleged video. Kejriwal challenged the pace of the police in dealing with the opposition leader and disregarded complaints made by AAP. According to him, the police force in the capital is just working according to the orders of the Lieutenant Governor and the federal government. This selective use of the law in his opinion is meant to present AAP as anti-religious. The intention is to destroy their popularity among certain communities that have always sided with the party.

AAP leaders have made several press conferences to present the original footage as well as the purported doctored clip. According to them, they used subtitles to misrepresent the words of Atishi to deceive the masses. Kejriwal said that this deep-fake technology and manipulation pose perilous instruments in a democracy. He called on people to look beyond these fictions that are meant to divert on actual issues. The events have also intensified the political climate in the capital as both sides have come out on the streets in demonstrations.

The backlash of this scandal has also leaked to the floor of the Delhi Assembly. The members of BJP have insisted on the resignation of Atishi, which has severely affected the proceedings. This demand, according to Kejriwal is a calculated action to eliminate one of the most eloquent voices of AAP in the assembly. He claimed that the BJP was terrified by the fact that Atishi could challenge the failures of the government. By casting sensitive religious allegations in her especially in an attempt to mute her, they are hoping that they will do away with her.

Methodical Dead Airs to Dissent.

The winter session has brought the operations of the Delhi Legislative Assembly to almost a standstill. Arvind Kejriwal has made the charges of the Speaker and the ruling party colluding to silence the opposition. Recently a number of AAP MLAs had been suspended during the session due to their raising their voices. Kejriwal described such suspensions as unconstitutional and a killing of democracy. He believed that the representation is the temple of democracy where elected members should be left to talk.

The previous Chief Minister has indicated that the opposition members have their microphones often switched off. He claimed that live telecasts of the assembly happenings are vetted every time members of the AAP party point out failures of the government. According to him, this censorship denies the citizens of Delhi a chance to know the truth about the governance. The systematic eviction of AAP MLAs of the house leaves the opposition benches vacant when vital votes are being cast. This has enabled the government of the BJP to pass bills with no real debate or opposition.

Another point that was brought out by Kejriwal was the brutal application of marshals to evict legislators forcefully into the house. He talked of how elected representatives were hauled out on the ground just because they wanted to have a discussion on pollution and crime. AAP has used these images, which have gone viral on social media to legitimize their arguments of authoritarianism.

The leader of AAP cautioned that such a trend is a dangerous precedent to the legislative bodies in the nation. In case the opposition is not permitted to operate, the checks and balances of the democracy completely vanish. He called on the President of India to come and reinstate the honour of the house. He had few hopes however that any constitutional power would intervene in the wishes of the Prime Minister.
