From Twitter to ‘X’ How Elon Musk Ruined the Microblogging Platform

This article describes the evolution of Twitter into X under Elon Musk, in which this platform has been transformed from just a microblogging site towards a more visually-oriented social media hub, more like TikTok and Instagram. Some of the changes include algorithmic shifts that favor videos and images, introducing a paid blue tick verification system, and visibly favoring more right-wing political posts. Mixed reaction to the rebranding to X: it alienates the old users familiar with the text-centric identity of Twitter. Examples of poor content and low engagement factor into a much deeper concern regarding how authentic and satisfying the user experience remains. The conclusions of this analysis will look at the long-term implications of these changes on its identity and user base.
