HelpChess Foundation: Powering Indian Chess
Introduction
Over the years, the team at ChessBase India has closely followed the journey of Indian chess players. One major challenge that often halts a promising chess career is the lack of funds. To address this, the ChessBase India Foundation, now known as the HelpChess Foundation, was established in 2018. In its four years of existence, the foundation has raised nearly 50 lakh rupees to support various players and causes. The foundation prides itself on thorough background checks and absolute transparency regarding the funds.
Achievements and Growth
In the financial year 2023-24, the HelpChess Foundation raised an impressive 54 lakh rupees to support Indian chess. This was made possible by the contributions of over 900 generous donors. Since its inception, the foundation has grown significantly. Starting with a modest scholarship of Rs. 50,000 in 2018, it now operates as a Charitable Trust, providing tax benefits to contributors under section 80G. More than 30 players received support from the funds raised in 2023-24 alone.
Our Mission
The primary goal of the HelpChess Foundation is to ensure that financial constraints do not force talented chess players to abandon their dreams. By connecting people who are passionate about chess and willing to contribute financially with players who need support, the foundation helps create more champions in the sport.
Transparency and Trust
Transparency is a cornerstone of the HelpChess Foundation. Detailed reports on fund utilization are published annually, ensuring that donors know exactly how their contributions are being used. This commitment to transparency has made the HelpChess Foundation India’s most trusted chess foundation.
Our Believers
The success of the HelpChess Foundation is driven by its supporters, known as Believers and Big Believers (for contributions above Rs. 50,000). These individuals believe in the vision of the foundation and the potential of Indian chess players.
