Indian politicians
By Justice Katju
Marx’s description of the unscrupulous French politician Adolphe Thiers ( 1797-1877 ), who planned the massacre of the people of Paris in 1871 in a sea of blood, accurately describes most Indian politicians ( of all parties ) :
” That monstrous gnome– consistent only in his greed for wealth, having entered his first ministry, under Louis Philippe, poor as Job, left it a millionaire. His last ministry under the same king (of March 1, 1840) exposed him to public taunts of peculation in the Chamber of Deputies, to which he was content to reply by tears – a commodity he deals in as freely as Jules Favre, or any other crocodile. At Bordeaux, his first measure for saving France from impending financial ruin was to endow himself with three millions a year.
A master in small state roguery, a virtuoso in perjury and treason, a craftsman in all the petty strategems, cunning devices, and base perfidies of parliamentary warfare; never scrupling, when out of office, to fan a revolution, and to stifle it in blood when at the helm of the state; with class prejudices standing him in the place of ideas, and vanity in the place of a heart; his private life as infamous as his public life is odious – even now, when playing the part of a French Sulla, he cannot help setting off the abomination of his deeds by the ridicule of his ostentation. “
The above words accurately describe Indian politicians, of all parties.
Though they claim and proclaim that they have the people’s welfare at heart, and work for the people’s good, the truth is that Indian politicians, of all parties, have no genuine love for the people, but only seek power and pelf, for themselves and their families. And for attaining this end they will readily do any misdeed, villainy, abomination, or crime, however depraved, egregious, heinous or horrendous it may be.
The minds of our politicians is focused on one, and only one, objective : how to get votes in elections. Since Indian politics is largely based on caste and religion, our politicians aim to secure some caste or communal vote bank. For this end, they polarise society, inciting and spreading caste and communal hatred, as I stated in this video

The days of that monster Modi are over, and even though he is still the Prime Minister he is only a shadow and scarecrow of his old self, since BJP, with 240 seats, is now in the minority in Parliament. I am very happy at this development, since Modi, by his politics of hatred of Muslims for 10 years, did great harm to India.
But what happens next?
Many people are projecting and presenting Rahul Gandhi as the saviour of India, a new Moses, who will lead the nation out of its distress and into a land of milk and honey.
But what is the truth?
The test of every political activity and political system is one, and only one : does it raise the standard of living of the people ? Does it give them better lives?
Rahul Gandhi has said that he has opened a mohabbat ki dukan in a nafrat ka bazaar. This is to be welcomed. But how will such platititudes and homilies abolish the massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of child malnutrition ( every second child in India is malnourished, according to Global Hunger Index ), skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, almost total lack of proper healthcare and good education for the Indian masses, etc. What solution does Rahul have for these problems ? I am afraid he has none. There is nothing in his head, except his burning desire to come to power ( which he believes he is entitled to, as he regards himself belonging to the royal family of India ).
So if the INDIA alliance comes to power with Rahul as the Prime Minister will it not just be a change of leaders with no basic change in the people’s lives ?
As Manthara said to Queen Kaikeyi in the Ramcharitmanas :
”Koi nrip hoye hamein ka haani
Cheri chaand na hobet rani ”
i.e.
”How does it matter to me who will be the king ?
Will I, a slave girl, become a Queen ? ”
Indians are fond of following a Pied Piper of Hamelin.
When Indira Gandhi said ”Garibi Hatao” they blindly believed her and voted for her en masse.
When Anna Hazare said ”Bhrashtachar hatao” they again blindly believed and followed him.
When Modi said ”Vikas” they blindly believed in him and made him the Prime Minister for 10 years, during which he polarised society, encouraged atrocities on minorities, and wreaked havoc in India.
So while I am happy that the old Modi with his 56 inch chest has been reduced to a caricature of his old self, I am afraid ” Achche din” are not likely to dawn in India for a very long time.
All Indian political parties are enemies of the nation as they are nothing but organized gangs of dacoits, murderers, charlatans, dissemblers, bamboozlers, knaves, cheats, and looters., who for getting votes and attaining power, spread and incite religious and caste hatred.
Almost all the present Indian politicians are enemies of the nation, a set of rogues, rascals, scoundrels, liars, double dealers, hypocrites, deceivers, swindlers, thugs, gundas, and criminals, who have no genuine love for the country or the people, but only seek power and pelf, for which they are willing to do any misdeed, malefaction, depravity, villainy, transgression, or atrocity.
The time is therefore surely coming when the people of India will rise up against our politicians and deal with them just as the Bourbons and aristocrats in France were dealt with during the French Revolution of 1789, or the Romanovs in Russia in 1917. The very fact that one was a politician in India will be enough proof of his guilt, and nothing else will need to be proved. Res ipsa loquitor
Those politicians who committed gross crimes against the people will of course not be spared, but those who committed relatively lesser crimes should quickly leave politics, announce openly that they are doing so, and seek forgiveness from the Indian people for their misdeeds. Time is running out.
