Ira Bindra Appointment Leads to Discontent Amongst Reliance Employees

Ira Bindra was appointed as Group President of People and Talent at Reliance Industries Ltd. in December 2024 with the aim of driving HR transformation and global leadership development. However, this has created a huge unrest among the employees. The main issues are mass layoffs, perceived misallocation of resources, and skepticism over hiring an external leader. Employees feel insecure about job stability, as RIL reduced its workforce by 42,000 in 2023-24, and dissatisfied with lavish spending during cost-cutting efforts. To address these concerns, RIL must improve transparency, communication, and engagement, ensuring employee welfare aligns with the company’s long-term strategies.
