In my opinion the cause of rise of Islamophobia in Europe is the recession in the economies of European countries, which has caused growth in unemployment in these countries. Some scapegoat has to be found who can be blamed for this, and what better targets than Muslims, who, being a minority, are fair game, just as Hitler made the Jews the scapegoats for all the economic ills in Germany
