Ham ne bhi apni naheef awaaz ko
Shaamil-e-shor-e-jahaan karna to hai
At the age of 79, I deserve rest. But how can I have it ?
I see my country in a terrible condition, with massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of child malnutrition, almost total lack of proper healthcare and good education for the masses, skyrocketing prices of food and other essential commodities, atrocities against minorities, dalits etc, and other huge socio-economic ills.
I see our political leaders, who should be solving these problems, only seeking power and pelf, and for that polarising the people and spreading caste and communal hatred, and having no genuine love for the people in their hearts.
It was the job of our youth to fight for upliftment of India and resolving these problems, but they only seek comfortable jobs in the civil services, the corporate sector, etc, or by going abroad.
It was the job of our so called ‘intellectuals’, but they have no real knowledge, their heads full of bookish knowledge and pompous arrogance, strutting aound like peacocks before the gullible public.
And as for the vast majority of the people, their heads are crammed with feudal casteism, communalism, superstitions, and stupidity.
Everyone seems to be oblivious, amaurotic, and ignorant of what is going on in the country, like a blind man groping in the dark. Hindustan mein sab bhatke hue hain.
So the job of giving guidance to the nation, has devolved on me, because there was no one else to do it, though I never sought it.
I have the experience and knowledge which comes from lifelong study and age, coupled with the dreams and passions of youth.
I am often scoffed at, derided, mocked at, and abused for speaking the truth
Yet I must do my duty. As Faiz said ” Bol ki lab azaad hain tere, bol zubaan ab tak teri hai ”
