In Severance, the distinction between work and personal life creates a dystopian universe in which employees, or “innies,” live in a world of inescapable labor. A rebellion could be kick-started by glitches or internal sabotage or even interference from outside. As innies begin to merge their memories with their outies, they may wake up to their oppression and seek to rise against Lumon Industries. This would make the exploration of identity, control, and power in the series more profound and raise more questions about autonomy and human connection. High stakes, drama, and a full-scale rebellion would redefine the tone and themes of the series in exciting ways.
