Among the worst-rated airlines worldwide, Air India is under increasing scrutiny for a string of operational and customer service lapses. Important events include catering mistakes on a flight headed from Hyderabad, a five-hour delay on a Chicago to Delhi route, and a bathroom breakdown on Flight AI126. Regulating authorities have also punished the airline for excessive rates of cancellements and delayed bags. Air India’s reputation is further erasing with an aged aircraft, crew shortages, and inadequate in-flight service. To rebuild consumer confidence and industry reputation, maintenance, personnel training, and passenger service have to be urgently improved.
