Once the most prominent smartphone brand in India, Honor is to be out of the market as it faces several key challenges. These include the highly competitive market from well-established brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, and Realme; it could not overcome the effects of the Huawei ban; and strategic missteps in marketing and distribution. It tried to re-enter through local manufacturing incentives, but Honor could not grab a sizeable market share in India. Moreover, the changing consumer preferences for premium devices and the market dynamics with the COVID-19 pandemic have also affected Honor’s success in the region.
