Indian tennis players like Sumit Nagal do not have international recognition. Indian tennis has had great players, such as Sania Mirza and Leander Paes. However, the less developed structures, limited financial support, and lower exposure to international competitions hold the rising tennis talent back. By discussing the careers of Sumit Nagal, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, and Sania Mirza, this article attempts to understand the difficulties faced by Indian tennis players against global benchmarks. It further describes the efforts to make the sport better and makes recommendations on what can be done to right these wrongs as a whole.
