The gaming market in India has been experiencing tremendous growth, and Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) has clearly been ahead of the curve. Since its launch, PS5 has always been in constant demand; however, supply constraints along with issues regarding its price have been a considerable limitation toward its wider acceptability. As of now, the standard disc version of PS5 costs almost Rs 54,990, whereas digital version is quoted to be around Rs 44,990. Now, reports indicate that Sony could scale down the deep price reduction of PS5 and cut it to Rs 10,000 to reach close to Rs 30,000 for market penetration in India, an extremely price-sensitive market. Yet, even with gaming mania soaring rapidly there, Sony is still not going to allow India business to run amok. Historically, Sony has introduced several offers of discounts like Rs 5,000 and Rs 13,000 at certain times during the sales to make the PS5 more affordable. This huge slash in the cost of the PS5 will, not only give access to many more people than it did when the product came out, but also increase growth in the market within the gaming sector, that affects gamers, retailers, and the overall dimension of the market.
