Skoda Kylaq, designed for India’s price-conscious SUV market, is facing tremendous delay due to technical issues which arise out of cost-cutting. The efforts for giving an affordable price have led to the deletion of premium features such as 1.5 TSI engine and downgrading of infotainment system, owing to shortages in semiconductors. Technical issues with ineffective air-conditioning system and other quality issues resulted in production slowing down and unsatisfaction from the customers. These issues have led to cancellation of bookings, leaving the Kylaq vulnerable to challenges from competitors such as Hyundai Creta. Skoda promises to address the issues, though restoring customer trust calls for massive effort.
