Because of its slow tempo and delayed narrative development, The Last of Us’s second season is under attack from both reviewers and fans. Although Season 2 seems to be failing to keep people interested, the first season was much praised for its riveting narrative and realistic translation of the popular computer game. Audiences have voiced dismay at the lack of action, long stretches with little narrative development, and clear drop in emotional intensity. Though great hopes, the current season is seeing lower ratings and conflicting comments. The causes of the falling reaction as well as possible implications for the series’s future are investigated in this paper.
