The CJP movement originated from a silly and unwarranted remark made by the present Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, in a court proceeding, that the unemployed youth in India are like cockroaches. Though he later tried to explain this away, the damage had been done.

An Indian student in Boston University, Abhijeet Dipke, satirically created the CJP ( paraphrasing BJP ) on the social media. Within a few days he had over 20 million followers. This seems to have turned his head, because he probably thought that if in a few days time he could get 20 million followers, in a few months or an year he could get 500 million.
Hence he seems to have got political ambitions, and decided to return to India, and start a movement, which could result in his becoming the Prime Minister of India. That movement is ongoing since 6th June 2026 in the form of protests at Jantar Mantar, Delhi ( the Hyde Park of India ), in which huge crowds, mainly of youth, have joined. A social activist from Ladakh, Sonam Wangchuk, went on hunger strike in support of the movement, which gained huge public attention, but has now ended after 26 days.
Now what is one to make of all this ?
The CJP is a product of the frustration of the Indian youth, who are seeing the looming spectre of unemployment, and are angry over paper leaks.
But mere emotions cannot solve these problems. The CJP is demanding resignation of the Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan because of paper leaks. But paper leaks are due to massive corruption in India, in all spheres, not just paper leaks. So they will not stop by mere replacement of Dharmendra Pradhan by another person as Education Minister. They will continue as long as there is massive corruption in India.
And corruption will not stop as long as the present system survives, as the Anna Hazare movement of 2011 against corruption proved. The movement gathered hundreds of thousands of supporters ( as the present CJP movement has done ), but later fizzled out, with no effect in the corruption in india ( some say it has increased since then ).
As for unemployment, it has reached a record level in India. 12 million youth are entering the Indian job market every year. But less than half a million jobs are created in the organized sector of the Indian economy. So where do the remaining 11.5 million go ? They become hawkers, street vendors, bouncers, stringers, criminals, beggars, suicides etc. and many girls become prostitutes.
If a single class 4 ( peon’s ) job is advertised by the govt there are often thousands of applicants, some even having Ph.D. M.Sc MBA or engineering degrees–all begging for a chaprasi’s job. When the army holds a recruitment, there are hordes of applicants, often resulting in riots..
But the problem of unemployment cannot be solved by preventing paper leaks or by shouting and screaming.
Paper leaks cannot be stopped because there is massive corruption in India. But assuming it is stopped, that will only result in meritorious persons getting jobs instead of non meritorious ones. But how will that increase the total number of jobs available ? It will not.
Unemployment can only be abolished if the economy is rapidly expanding, which creates millions of jobs. But the Indian economy has been stagnant for a long time ( if not in recession ), and can only expand in another system, which can come into existence only after a revolution.
But the CJP movement is no revolution. It is only an emotional outburst of Indian youth who fear unemployment after they complete their studies.
It seems our youth are like the children of Hamelin who followed a Pied Piper to their doom.
Indira Gandhi gave the slogan ‘Gharibi hatao’ ( abolish poverty ), and consequently Indians, including our youth, rallied around her, voted for Congress, and Indira Gandhi became the Prime Minister.
In 2011, Anna Hazare gave the slogan ‘abolish corruption’, huge crowds, including our youth, followed him, but later the movement fizzled out, and today corruption in India is more rampant ever before.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Modi gave the slogan ‘vikas’ ( development ), and our youth voted for the BJP, thinking that vikas would create millions of jobs for them, though today unemployment is at a record level in India.
Protesting at Jantar Mantar by cockroaches may be acceptable, but a march to Parliament, which Dipke announced, will certainly not be. Parliament is a sovereign body, and no government in the world will allow or tolerate a march upto it by a horde of people, but will stop it in between, using force if necessary ( as explained in the article below ) :

For quite some time some people, and a section of the Indian media, have been painting a rosy picture of India, saying that the Indian GDP is growing, that India has the fastest growing economy in the world, which will soon surpass Japan and come upto the level of Germany, that India is set to become the third largest economy in the world, etc etc.

I have often written that all this is false. India has massive poverty, massive unemployment ( which is increasing ), appalling level of child malnutrition ( every second child in India is malnourished, according to Global Hunger Index, and the position has got worse in recent years ), almost total lack of proper healthcare and good education for the masses, skyrocketing prices of food and other essential commodities, etc.

Which of the two narratives mentioned above presents the correct picture ? There was confusion about it till now.
But now the CJP movement has answered it : it is the second one. The over 20 million followers it has acquired in a few days indicates the frustration and anger of Indians, particularly of the Indian youth, facing unemployment and a bleak future, and the plight of all Indians, facing skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, rising cost of living, and other huge socio-economic problems.

The vast majority of Indians have, so to say, spoken with their feet. Whereas earlier there was some confusion whether the first or the second narrative mentioned above was correct, the huge response which the CJP has received makes the position now clear : it is the second one.
No wonder many in the ruling party in India have got scared and spooked ( though the CJP poses no imminent danger to its rule ), and got the X account of the CJP blocked. The Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued the block under Section 69A of the IT Act. This came after the Intelligence Bureau (IB) flagged the account, citing national security concerns and claims that it was posting inflammatory content targeting the sovereignty and integrity of India.
But how is it a national security concern, and how does it target the sovereignty and integrity of India, passes all understanding.
Blocking the X account of the CJP is behaving like King Canute, who told the waves to go away
Unfortunately for King Canute, the waves kept rising, and ultimately carried him away.
