The students’ agitation in Bangladesh will soon end in a Vendemiarie
By Justice Katju
The students of Bangladesh are celebrating, jubilating, and rejoicing their ‘great victories’.
They have forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign and fly from the country.
They have forced the President Mohd Shahabuddin to appoint an interim government headed by an 83 year old decrepit man, Mohd Yunus, with one foot in the grave.
They have got 2 student leaders appointed as advisers ( which really means Ministers ) in this new government.

They have forced the Bangladesh Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan to resign
Thus they have started thumping their chests and imagining themselves to be the real rulers of Bangladesh.
These poor chaps little realise what is in store for them in the near future. They have forgotten the adage ” Power grows out of the barrel of a gun ”. They are like the Paris mob which on Vendemiarie, 5th October 1795 tried to storm the Convention, only to be dispersed by ‘a whiff of grapeshot’ from Gen Napoleon Bonaparte’s troops..

The students agitation in Bangladesh will inevitably and ignominously end in a similar manner, with martial law proclaimed throughout the country ( as done defacto in Pakistan after the events of 9th May 2023 ), and the ‘brave’ students hiding underground or in jail, or simply ‘disappeared’
