The Vvaan Box Office: Sidharth Malhotra And Tamannaah Bhatia’s Film Grosses 40 Crores Globally
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, has now crossed five days of its release and has been able to draw viewers to theatres even after a fantastic weekend.
Folklore based stuner “Laal Singh Chaddha” has shown some decent increase in collections post first day. After opening day start around Rs 7.5-8 crore on Friday in India, the film had seen some increase during the weekend. Its success has been especially evident in mass-market centres and non-metropolitan locations, where there seems to have been an eager taking-up of the fairy-tale and supernatural genres.
The Vvaan Box Office Day 5
As per reports on September 29, The Vvaan also gained Rs 4.4-5.25 crore in its India net gross on Tuesday as per the trade tracker being monitored.
India Today stated a Day 5 collection of Rs 5.25 crore, has taken the overall home net assortment to Rs 38.85 crore. (India Today)
In another report NDTV also stated a gross domestic total of Rs 38.85 crore although the film has reported approximately Rs 4 crore grossed from overseas markets. ([NDTV][3])
Trade numbers are not entirely consistent, since each box-office tracker uses various estimates and has varying update times.
Bollywood Hungama live tracker shows the film has earned Rs 36.27 crore net in India, Rs 43.18 crore India gross and Rs 1.72 crore overseas gross right now. ([Bollywood Hungama][4])
Strong Growth Over The Weekend
The highlight so far in The Vvaan’s run has been how much it’s grown from Friday to Sunday.
Rs 8 crore on its first day The second day, Saturday, saw the film collecting Rs 11 crore. Sunday saw another big jump of Rs 14 crore as per Sacnilk, shared by India Today.
This brought the India net collections of 3 days to Rs 33.25 crore. The worldwide gross at that point was listed as Rs 43.15 crore. ([India Today][5])

Box Office India, however, pinned the Monday at around Rs 4.65 crore and called the film’s hold on Monday as reasonable. It remained Rs 36.40 crore net after four days. (Box Office India[7])
The Tuesday numbers will be interesting, as it needs to hold on to its weekday audience for the second weekend.
The Story Behind The Vvaan

CAST. Tamannaah Bhatia is Tamannaah Bhatia Rishi, an engineer based in Mumbai, visits his native village in Bihar with his wife Mamta, played by Tamannaah Bhatia.
The couple visits during the Chhath Puja festival. Rishi is a very practical and rational man who does not believe in the superstitions of the villagers.
The story of the first conflict begins at the point when he enters a free forest against the warning lights.
The forest is linked with an old power of god and the local faith of Vaan Devi. Rishi’s advent will always lead him into a knock out with the godly forces that have been a part of the local legends for generations.
Other Cast of the Movie He will be seen along with Maniesh Paul, Shweta Tiwari, Anup Soni, Sunil Grover etc. in the lead roles. ([India Today][2])
Sidharth Malhotra Opens Big At The Box Office
Sidharth Malhotra also the first weekend is important for him.
According to Bollywood Hungama, his highest first weekend for solo-hero films was for The Vvaan after he had a Rs 28.48 crore collection in three days for the film Param Sundari.
The weekend collection of the film even surpassed the opening weekends of Sidharth starrers like Thank God, Kapoor & Sons, and Marjaavaan. ([Bollywood Hungama][1])
The strong numbers on Saturday and Sunday therefore gave a much-needed boost following the tepid opening on Friday.
Mass Centres Help The Film
The other interesting point is the reaction of smaller towns and mass-market area to the box-office run of The Vvaan.
Box Office India further stated, ‘The film did well in Hindi mass circuits especially in Bihar which showed a better trend than the average.’ ([Box Office India][7])
Some of this is appropriate as the plot of the film is surrounded by themes of the countryside, local folklore and legend.
By playing on audiences beyond metropolitan areas, the film has successfully attracted viewers in some regions where the stories of myth, village customs and supernatural beliefs have an immediate cultural resonance.
Competition From Other Films
The Vvaan is also available with other releases.
Nani’s The Paradise, which came out a day before, has also been holding steady at the Indian box office. As per India Today, The Paradise had grossed close to Rs 92.10 crore net in India in Day 4 while its gross in the worldwide market was said to be roughly Rs 138.25 crore. [India Today][5]
By the way, Hanuman Ansh also has gone on to run in theatres weeks after the release.
The development is that The Vvaaaan will have to hold its audience weekday by weekday in order to make the most of the weekend.
What Happens Next?
The immediate aim of The Vvaan is to earn a Rs 50 crore first-week collection from the India circuit.
Box Office India predicted that the film could gross around Rs 50 crore net in the first week, and the film’s box office run will depend on the film’s performance till the release of Drishyam 3. ([Box Office India][7])
For the time being, the film has shown a definitive leap from its opening day to the weekend. It is still to be seen whether that audience interest continues through the week.
If it wasn’t folklore-themed with Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia in lead, and more footfalls than the other two mass centres, then The Vvaan would have been one of the films being expectedly watched.
The numbers still fluctuate a little, and there are variations in total among various trade trackers. For a publication I would use the latest figure reported in India Today/NDTV Rs 38.85 crore India net for the latest reported estimate rather than giving the figures as final.
