Russo Brothers Confirm Avengers: Doomsday Cast Is Not Complete
We haven’t yet seen the full cast. Marvel Studios is still keeping some of the Avengers: Doomsday cast under wraps. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that the cast we’ve seen so far isn’t the full cast of the new Marvel movie.

Anthony Russo’s revelation came during the theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame, which was accompanied by fresh footage related to a connection between Avengers: Doomsday. Anthony Russo announced that there is additional cast coming to the film that has not been publicly revealed yet.
This has now led to speculation about which of Marvel’s characters could yet show up, but Marvel has not confirmed the names of other actors set for The Marvels and several of the characters could be just rumours.
Questions Have Already Been Raised By The Mark Ruffalo Hulk Appearance
The biggest clue of all came when we saw new footage, displaying Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. Apparently they didn’t have Ruffalo in the list of Marvel’s original viral reveal of cast for Avengers: Doomsday, but the new Endgame footage shows Doctor Doom meeting up with Bruce Banner.
The video has thus bolstered speculation that Ruffalo would be featured in the new movie. However, it also confirms why the first cast announcement might not have been the entire cast.
Anthony Russo’s recent remarks just made that more concrete. The director revealed that Marvel “intentionally chose not to announce any of the characters” in the film.
A Huge Cast Has Already Been Announced
Without even including the unknown “cast members,” Avengers: Doomsday has one of the biggest casts in Marvel Studios’ history. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise the role of Tony Stark/ Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but will play a completely different character, Victor von Doom. Chris Hemsworth will reprise the role of Thor and Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers.
Confirmed cast also consists of Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Wakandans, the world of Shang-Chi and the X-Men universe. Returning as the Fantastic Four are Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming and Channing Tatum link the film to other X-Men movies and Fox Marvel movies.
Thus, the film can be read as uniting characters from various territories of Marvel cinema, and therefore the prospect of further surprise characters being introduced feels especially important.
Are Additional Major Marvel Characters Going to Show Up?
The Russo brothers have yet to disclose which other cast members are still holding the roles under wraps, which has left plenty of room for speculation regarding actors who weren’t mentioned in the initial press release.
Tom Holland, Hugh Jackman, for example, have been both talked about by fans for some time, but there’s no official info yet on if either will end up being in the film, so these rumors shouldn’t be really included in the confirmed cast of Marvel.
The studio also employed its secrecy as a promotional tool. The studio’s new Endgame footage for the film also offered some insight into the characters of Bruce Banner and Doctor Doom, albeit out of context of what happens in Doomsday.
Three Marvel Universes Are Moving Towards a Single Plot
Confirmed character line up for Avengers: Doomsday Marvel has officially announced “a story where the heroes from three different universe strike out on a collision course”. Confirmed character roster for the film shows the three universes coming together with Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and other MCU team characters.
The film focuses on Victor von Doom (Robert Downey Jr), although the exact nature of what Doom is up to has not been revealed. New footage aired during the Endgame re-release has also teased that a significant multiverse-threatening incident will occur, as seen by the TVA watching on as universes collapse in tandem with incursions.
This means the anonymous actors will have more significance if we discover who they are, as their identities could disclose which other areas of Marvel’s multiverse will feature in the story.
Avengers: Doomsday Release Date
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theatres on December 18, 2026. It will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Jonathan Schwartz.
As of now, Marvel has announced a massive cast, yet they have chosen to intentionally reveal part of the cast. However, with the recent statements of the Russo brothers, we can be sure that the announcement isn’t the last time we’ll hear about the cast of the film.
That just leaves the possibility of some other casting discoveries up for grabs, with Marvel staying tight-lipped about the rest of the cast until near to the film’s theatrical launch.
