What Went Wrong with John Abraham’s The Diplomat at Theaters

Though an initial ₹13.3 crore opening weekend, John Abraham’s The Diplomat (2025) flunk at the box office. A budget drop from ₹15 crore to ₹5 crore limited promotional to two trailers with limited reach, which resulted in poor marketing and ultimately brought down the film. His latest disaster Vedaa (2024) added to audience mistrust driven by performance shortcomings. On its first Monday, a sharp fall to ₹1.5 crore underlined inadequate reception. Its financial losses grew as OTT rejection by Amazon and Netflix combined with a ₹90 crore budget sank it. The inability of the movie emphasizes the need of financial discipline, audience confidence, and intelligent marketing.
