Why Nobody Liked Assassin Creed Mirage, Leading to Millions in Losses for Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was intended to be a nostalgic effort at bringing the franchise back to its stealthy roots with a smaller game world and more straightforward mechanics as opposed to the recent RPG-focused titles of the series. Fans appreciated the nostalgic approach, but most condemned the outdated gameplay, lack of innovation, and unengaging storyline. Stealth mechanics were shallow, combat and parkour were not as smooth, and the overall narrative failed to captivate its audience or expand the massive Assassin’s Creed lore. Although the historical setting of Baghdad was praised, the world lacked interactivity and meaningful content. Although it had decent initial sales, fan disappointment over the game’s short length and price hurt the long-term reception.
