First look of Ranbir Kapoor from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War* is finally here! This is the first official glimpse of the actor’s role in the much-anticipated period piece.
On September 24, the poster was released which reveals Ranbir driving a blue vintage convertible, styled with a retro haircut, circle sunglasses, and a light-colored shirt. However, this is contradicted by a singular, disturbing detail: his bruised arm, covered in blood and a possible gunshot wound.
The film, also starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is set to release in cinemas globally on January 21, 2027.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Retro Look Revealed
In the first poster, he is dressed in a very retro look.
The body of the figure is sitting in the driver’s seat of an old, bluey-green car with his arm hanging out of the car. The character has short hair, wears glasses and a wig with period costume.
Although the bloodstained arm now alters the tone of the poster, and the presence of the perforation indicates a violent scuffle, its creators have not disclosed the details surrounding the injury.
There are also some old-fashioned cars and buildings in the background.
Bhansali Productions Shares the First Look

The makers posted the picture with a caption, “Woh rutba, woh raub, woh junoon!”, along with the release date of the film.
The poster was also shared by both on their official social-media handles. “Here we go! RK…” he captioned while sharing the poster on Twitter.
This poster is used to launch the film’s official promo campaign following the uncertainty of the project over many months.
Ranbir, Alia and Vicky Together

This is the first time all three actors are working together in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
Ranbir and Bhansali have an association going back to 2007 when the director launched him in Saawariya. The two are now working together almost two decades later.
Previously, Alia has worked with Bhansali in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Vicky Kaushal’s first film with the director is Love & War.
What Is Love & War About?
The artisans have remained silent about the story.
The film has been reported to be a period romantic drama during the time of war. The project has been previously reported to feature actors Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal as an Indian Air Force officer whose life is intertwined with Alia Bhatt’s.

First-Look Poster Luv is set to release the worldwide on January 21, 2027.
The film is releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The Janurary release also keeps the movie near the January 26th Republic Day, which is one of the most lucrative weekends for high profile Hindi films.
It is scheduled for an extensive theatrical run, with IMAX included in the listed partners. Netflix is said to be on the list of streaming partners.
Ranbir Kapoor Time Runs Out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali
For Ranbir, it is like a homecoming to the director who first introduced him as an actor.
Saawariya came out in 2007, and that was Ranbir’s first feature film as a hero of a Hindi film. The two didn’t work together for a long time after that, but Bhansali was the one who did Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi.
And now, Ranbir is set to re-enter Bhansali’s world of movies with a humongous film with Alia and Vicky.
On the surface, it appears that the Ranbir in the film will look more of a wild man than a smooth romantic hero usually seen in period films.
