But I have been motivated to write this one because of the great and astonishing feat accomplished by the American people in the recent mid term US Congress elections, and that feat is restoring balance in American politics.
I have said in my articles above that like all nations, Americans too have made mistakes. But they later realized their mistakes, and corrected them.
Today, America is the most advanced and powerful nation in the world. This casts a heavy responsibility on Americans to remain modest, restrained and balanced, for many things they do affects the whole world, and so they must never act rashly. In particular, they must always remember and pay heed to the words of their great first President George Washington, who said in 1796 in his Farewell Address, on completing his second term as the President of USA, that Americans should peacefully trade with other nations, not make war on them. In the same address, Washington also said that the system of checks and balances and separation of powers in the US Constitution are important means of preventing a single person or group from seizing control of the country.
This good advice from the great Founding Father was often forgotten, and the American government often made unjust wars on other nations, e.g. Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and of late, Venezuela and Iran.
Wars are costly affairs, and have to be paid for by raising taxes on the people.
The recent U.S. war on Iran has driven up living and energy costs across America, adding an estimated $2,000 in expenses per U.S. household and raising the conflict’s direct military price tag to $47.1 billion. Here are some estimates :
Economic and Price Impacts in America
$2,000 per household: Economists at Moody’s Analytics estimate the cumulative domestic economic toll—including higher fuel, retail, and travel spending alongside government war costs—averages about $2,000 per household (totaling roughly $265 billion nationwide).
Gasoline and Diesel Spikes: National average regular gasoline prices have risen significantly (up over 39% to around $4.12 to $4.27 per gallon), while diesel prices surged higher due to shipping disruptions and energy shocks through the Strait of Hormuz.
Inflation and Interest Rates: The energy supply shock pushed annual inflation up (nearing 3.4%–3.7%), adding pressure to consumer goods, groceries, and freight costs, while influencing Federal Reserve policy.
Direct Pentagon Spending: The U.S. Department of Defense reported to Congress that operational and munitions-replacement costs for the war (launched in late February) reached $47.1 billion as of October 16, 2026.
This is obviously the real cause of the ‘blue tsunami’ which swept over large parts of America in the recent mid term elections, and gave comfortable majorities to the Democratic Party in both Houses of the US Congress.
The American people have once again risen to the occasion, and have conveyed a clear message to President Trump that his days of taking unilateral decisions, e.g. making wars or imposing tariffs, are over, and he must take the approval of Congress before doing so, as is indeed the mandate of Article 1 section 8 of the US Constitution
