This trailer was released on a Thursday morning and immediately shot to the top of the trending topics, on all the wrong grounds.

The main problem that viewers have mentioned is the cringing level of dialogues employed in the clip. The authors appear to have tried to achieve profound and philosophical statements on the love and relationships but they have failed miserably. Twitter and Instagram users started posting videos of particular scenes in which the serious lines would unintentionally work. Efforts to be poetic led to the constitution of sentences that were unnaturally and forcefully imposed on modern characters. The internet has unfortunately termed it as a comedy of errors instead of a heart tornching emotional drama.
The Romantic Lines Spin into Unwitting Comedy.
There is one particular statement that has received the greatest attention of the trolling community on the web. In one of the drama scenes, Kartik Aaryan character is given a monologue of the sacrifices women make when they marry, why women should quit their homes. Although the feeling could be good, it was conveyed and phrased like a preachy public service announcement and not a natural conversation. The internet was flooded with memes nearly instantly and the dialogue was likened to nineties era soap operas. People claimed that the line was not subtle and this was only added in order to score some social points.
The other scene that made the viewers roll their eyes was the proclamation of their everlasting love between the two main characters. The characters even talk in metaphors which sound as though he or she was lifted right off a cheap greeting card or forwarded emails. The phrases concerning the living in the moment and sacrificing in love were pronounced so seriously that made them laughable. The critics pointed out that the young generation no longer speaks in such a manner and therefore the film appeared to be out of sync with reality. The effort to make the classic romance was ultimately like a parody of the genre.
The responses indicate that the viewers are getting a lot wiser and intolerant toward lazy writing in Bollywood movies. Normally, it does not take long before viewers can point out the scripts that are based on emotional manipulation that is heavy-handed as opposed to one based on genuine connection. The humor at this trailer is an indication that the film directors should revise their perception of contemporary romance. A character uttering words that are supposed to be very deep and the audience laughs then it means that there has been a huge failure in direction. These cringy videos are even viral, which is potentially negative influence to the box office performance of the film.
A Cheesy Script That Fanbases Are Boycotting.
In addition to the poor dialogues, a significant percentage of the viewers complained at the repetitiveness of the overall theme of the movie. The trailer presents a story that seems to be an amalgamation of a number of other hit romantic comedies in the past ten years. It was immediately compared to other films such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tamasha because of the heavy focus on traveling. The image of the free boy bringing a serious girl to a foreign journey is the cliche that has worked out to death. People are demanding new content and this movie seems like it is presenting old wine in a new bottle.
The archetypes of characters used in the short video also led to the sense of the deja vu of the audience. Kartik Aaryan is the usual good looking flirtatious boy who later discovers the importance of true love which he has done numerous times. Ananya Panday is shown as the a bit conservative urban girl who should be taught to relax and live. The trailer did not give any indication of any freshness or change in these stereotypical characters. This is one of the reasons why the emotional dialogues did not hit as viewers felt that they had already seen it all.
The criticism points to an increasing weariness with the type of romances produced by Dharma, which are vacuous, glossy and heavily budgeted. Instead of being amazed by exotic destinations in Croatia or luxurious designer wardrobes, fans can no longer be impressed only by these things. They desire real-world stories and characters with more than superficial human aspects. The screaming laughter is a coping strategy to the disappointment of seeing great actors squanded on a generic script. It is a wake-up call to producers that their age-old formula is not as much of a guarantee of success as before.
The Chemistry Which Failed to Ignite the Screen.
The other area of criticism that came across was the lack of authentic chemistry between the two lead actors in the love scenes. Although the duo worked together in the past, it appeared that Kartik and Anaya had a hard time developing a convincing romantic bond in the trailer. The lovemaking scenes that were expected to be passionate, were artificial and robotic. On YouTube, people often commented on the fact that the two people could be better described as brothers or betrayed friends rather than lovers. This deadpan resulted in even more absurd dramatic professions of affection in the eyes of the viewer.
This was attempted to be covered by the editing of the trailer through fast cuts and loud music but the disconnect was still obvious. Romantic films are dependent on the viewers believing the connection of the central characters. Unless the viewers can buy the fact that these two individuals are in love with each other crazily then the high-stakes drama is not earned. When the actors are obliged to utter hardcore lines to a partner they do not have any chemistry, this factor is further exaggerated by the cringe factor. It gives the jarring effect which takes the viewer out of the narrative and makes him or her conscious of being a viewer of a performance.
