A legal tussle has started between actor-turned-producer Dhanush and actress Nayanthara over a behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage utilized from the 2015 Tamil film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. A three-second clip of the movie’s BTS featured in the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. Dhanush is a victim of copyright, and his case has led to a lawsuit that seeks ₹10 crore in damages. It has opened a new debate about the ownership of copyright, fair use, and the ethics of using content in filmmaking. Meanwhile, the case continues in court; however, this raises the issue of proper contracts between the individuals and the professional footage.
