When Imran Khan came to power as Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2018, I strongly criticised him on the social media for giving PTI tickets to ‘dubious electables’, taking support of religious extremists in the elections, removing Atif Mian, the eminent economist, from the Pakistan Economic Advisory Council only because he was an Ahmadi, etc. I also criticised him thereafter for constantly referring to religion in his speeches, and saying he will establish ‘Madina ki Riyasat’ ( whatever that means ), which was, to my mind, reactionary nonsense.
However, that was all in the past, and we have to see the present situation in Pakistan.
After the events of 9th May, 2023 ( which many people believe were stage managed ), the Pakistan army unleashed a fascist reign of terror in Pakistan. About 14,000 people were arrested on trumped up, concocted, charges, many beaten, tortured, and then incarcerated in jail, where they are still languishing in inhuman conditions. Some have even ‘disappeared’.
The Pakistan judges, who had taken a solemn oath to protect the Constitutional rights and freedoms of the people, have, under the leadership of that shameless toady of the Pakistan Establishment, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, largely surrendered, and become servile to the Pakistan Establishment, shamelessly doing its bidding ( though there are some exceptional brave judges too ).The media has been largely silenced, and the people terrified and cowed down.
In this situation Imran Khan, even from inside jail, is bravely leading the democratic forces in Pakistan. His party, the PTI would have won a landslide victory in the elections held in February, had they not been massively rigged ).
I do not know Imran Khan and have never met him. I am not his friend, relative, or belonging to his caste or creed, and I do not expect anything from him.
Yet I have been supporting him as I regard him as basically honest, and I support all honest persons, whether Indian, Pakistani, British, American or of any country.

It is alleged that he did some wrong things in the toshakhana deals. But these were trivial, e.g. alleged undervaluing a wrist watch. Compare this to the huge loot by PDM leaders like Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam, some of which were revealed in the Panama Papers case. The PDM leaders are big dacoits who have looted Pakistan of billions of dollars, Asif Zardari being known as Mr 10%.
While Nawaz Sharif fled to London on the pretext of medical treatment, and stayed there for 4 years, Imran Khan has refused to leave Pakistan, and is bravely facing the gauntlet here. He did many good deeds, like building the Shaukat Khanum Cancer hospital; and other institutes.
90% Pakistanis support Imran Khan, as all opinion polls disclose.
What are his ‘crimes’ for which he is incarcerated in Adiala jail ? Here is a list :
