After the events of 9th May, 2023 ( which many people believe were stage managed ) a fascist reign of terror was imposed by the Pakistan army all over Pakistan. About 14,000 people were arrested, many beaten, tortured, killed,( or just ‘disappeared’ ), and many jailed on trumped up and frivolous charges, where they are still languishing in horrible, inhuman conditions for over an year.
Judges of Pakistan who took a solemn oath to protect the people’s rights and liberties, became deaf and dumb, and turned a Nelson’s eye to these outrages and horrors ( though there are some exceptional courageous judges too, who spoke out against them ). The media largely kowtowed before the power center ( like the ‘godi’ media in India ).
The people are reeling before the worst economic crisis in Pakistan’s history, with record unemployment, highly inflated electricity bills, and soaring prices of food and other essential commodities.
In this situation it is understandable that most Pakistanis became despondent, terrified, cowed down, and pessimistic. They were afraid to step out of their houses and speak out against these atrocities, lest they too be picked up and incarcerated by the security forces. They felt that this state of affairs will continue indefinitely, and many lost all hope of any change in the situation.
But, as the great Urdu poet, Akbar Allahabadi said :
” Khabar deti hai tehreek-e-hawa tabdeel-e-mausam ki
Khilenge aur hi gul, zamzame bulbul ke kam honge ”
i.e.
” The movement of the wind portends a change in the season
Other flowers will bloom, the songs of the bulbul ( a bird ) will become less ”
And as a well known adage says ” Wherever there is oppression, there is resistance ”.
Now there are clear signs of the beginning of the end of the army’s fascist rule in Pakistan.
Consider some facts :
(1) A bakery employee in Crusteez Donuts in Islamabad told that shameless toady of the Pakistan Establishment, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, ” Laanat hai aap par ”.This incident created a storm all over Pakistan, and the video depicting the scene went viral. Details have been given in this article :
(2) Lawyers of Pakistan have recently gone on the agitational path
(3) Last Friday and Saturday ( 4th and 5th October ) massive demonstrations took place in many cities in Pakistan :
What does this indicate ? It indicates that the people have lost their fear of the army and police, have risen up, and are now stepping out of their houses in large numbers.
Some people say that the army has the gun, so how can the people fight it ?
But many rulers in the past had an army, and yet they were overthrown by the people. For instance, King Louis 16 of France had an army, yet he was overthrown by the people and guillotined in 1793. Czar Nicholas II of Russia had an army, yet in 1917 he was overthrown, and later shot by the Bolsheviks.
An army can fight another army, it cannot fight the masses. A tiger can kill a prey, it cannot kill a swarm of mosquitoes. The Pakistan army has only about 650,000 active duty soldiers ( plus 550,000 reservists ) i.e. a total of 1.2 millon. But the population of Pakistan is about 240 million

Moreover, the people of Pakistan have as their leader Imran Khan, an ironman, whom I regard as the bravest leader in the Indian subcontinent. Despite his incarceration in Adiala jail for over an year, he has never flinched or lost heart, and is bravely leading the struggle for restoration of democracy in Pakistan even from inside jail.
While many Pakistanis are still pessimistic and downbeat, I can now see light at the end of the tunnel.
I am optimistic, and believe we are witnessing the beginning of the end of fascist rule in Pakistan
