I had earlier written an article that it is a shame that most north Indians do not know much about the history and culture of south India

Similarly it can be said that it is a shame that most Indians do not know much about the history and culture of the people of the north east.
Since many north eastern Indians have mongoloid facial features, some of us call them derisively as ‘chinkis’, insinuating that they are not Indians at all but Chinese. This is deeply regrettable, as it is insulting our own countrymen/countrywomen.
How many Indians ( apart from Nagas ) have heard of the great freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu, a Naga who fought against the British for freedom of India
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rani_Gaidinliu
While some Nagas like Angami Phizo wanted Nagaland to secede from India ( and in fact declared independence from India on 14.8.1947 ), Rani Gaidinliu strongly opposed this move, saying that she had fought for Indian independence, not for secession from India.
Further details of Rani Gaidinliu are given in the podcast below, anchored by Navin Giri ( great grandson of former President of India V.V.Giri ), a lawyer who lives in Vancouver, Canada, and in which the main speaker was Som Kamei, a Naga who graduated from Hindu College, Delhi, and did his M.Phil from JNU, Delhi, before joining the Indian Postal Service, from where he has retired. Also in the discussion is KBS Sidhu, a former IAS officer.
How many Indians have heard of the annual Hornbill Festival held in Nagaland?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornbill_FestivalHardly any.
If Indians wish to unite, which they must if they wish to launch a mighty historical people’s struggle for their emancipation from the huge socio-economic evils like massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of child malnutrition, lack of proper healthcare, etc they must know about the history of their own countrymen, and respect their culture. Otherwise there will never be unity among us.
