Kapil Sibal, the eminent Indian Supreme Court lawyer, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Member of Parliament, and former Union Minister, is my friend whom I have known for long.
Recently he has posted a vlog on youtube, which is given below, in which he has said that Indian politics has descended to a new low
With great respect to Kapil, who is a dear friend, I am afraid he has been somewhat economical of the truth.
May I therefore remind him of the fact that Indian politics had descended to the lowest depth when that power crazy woman Indira Gandhi, imposed a fake Emergency in 1975 under which all fundamental rights of the people were suspended, lacs of people were arrested and jailed on false and trumped up charges, and horrible atrocities committed on them. And all this because the Allahabad High Court had held her guilty of corrupt practices in the parliamentary elections, which jeopardised her ‘kursi’.
And was it not a new low when Indira Gandhi toppled state governments hostile to her, e.g. the state government of Andhra Pradesh headed by Chief Minister N.T.Rama Rao

And was it not a new low when under threat of being toppled as Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhajan Lal shamelessly deserted the Janata Party and came over to the Congress, bringing along with him almost all his MLAs, and bowed low before India’s Empress ?
And was it not a new low when she packed the judiciary with committed judges, as advised by her henchmen Siddharth Shankar Ray and Om Mehta, as well her infamous son Sanjay Gandhi, who terrorised India ?.
As regards the ED action against Robert Vadra, is it not correct that before his engagement to Priyanka Gandhi he had only a small jewelry shop, but after he became a member of India’s royal family he has become a multi millionaire or billionaire ? So why should he not be investigated ?

The BJP too has done many misdeeds, but two wrongs do not make one right.
During the UPA govt scam followed scam ( the coalgate scam, the 2G scam, the CWG scam, etc ), and these scams were not of crores of rupees but of lacs of crores. Where has all this huge hush money gone ? Although there may not be direct proof, but it is almost certain that 90% of it went to Sonia Gandhi’s Swiss Bank accounts or some other secret haven where she has stacked it it. After all she was the real Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, and Manmohan Singh was only a puppet. So even if there is no direct evidence of Sonia’s corruption, there is strong circumstantial evidence, and people have even been hanged on circumstantial evidence.
So Kapil should think twice before talking of the new low in Indian politics
