The CJI, Justice Chandrachud, often delivers homilies on morality expected of judges.
But what I was informed by a source I regard reliable, was that he has got himself allotted not only the house on 5 Krishna Menon Marg ( which was the official residence-cum-office of all CJIs I have known ) but also the house on 7 Krishna Menon Marg. In addition, I was told, he has not handed over possession of the house on Tughlak Road, which he was occupying as puisne judge of the Supreme Court ( the house was earlier occupied by Hansraj Bhardwaj, the former Union Law Minister ).
Thus, if my information is correct, he has 3 huge houses in his possession, when he was only entitled to 1, though some SC judges have not yet been allotted official residences from the SC judges pool.
If this information is correct, is it not hypocrisy on the part of the CJI ( who did a highly improper act by recently inviting the Prime Minister to his residence for doing Ganesh puja ) ?

And if the information I received is not correct, the CJI, or someone on his behalf, should clarify by issuing a public statement in this connection.
