Arjun Tendulkar
Mumbai @ April 19, 2025
Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar, has formally confirmed his retirement from professional cricket in a significant turn of events ending a much-hypersed chapter in Indian cricket. Arjun has decided to hang his boots and pursue a fresh career in business after years of trying to leave his impact in domestic cricket and the IPL.
A Profession That Never Made Sense
Arjun’s cricketing path never quite lived up to his father’s, who is regarded as the “God of Cricket.” Arjun’s career stayed on the margins even though he was part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL and had chances in age-level cricket.
His performances were disappointing, and he regularly battled to break into playing XIs even in domestic contests. Arjun shown flashes of promise as a left-arm medium pacer and lower-order hitter, but he was unable to translate those into regular performance.
Originally starting for Mumbai in domestic cricket, he quickly moved to Goa in search of more playing time. Even then, his appearances were few and his influence on the field was negligible.
IPL Dreams That Never Materialized
Selected by Mumbai Indians in the IPL auctions in 2021, Arjun Tendulkar continued with the team for several seasons. Though he was mostly on the bench despite the association, he failed to provide any noteworthy performance when given chances in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. His bowling lacked the crispness needed at the IPL level, and his economic rate stayed strong.
Many supporters and detractors felt his choice in the IPL was more about legacy than talent, and sadly, his performances did not help to allay the concerns.
Proceeding Beyond the Shadow
Arjun shared in a sincere Instagram post earlier today,
"After years of reflection, I have chosen to cut ties to cricket. This game has imparted humility, discipline, and fortitude. Although I fell short of what I had hoped for on the field, I am appreciative of the path and the help of my coaches, friends, and colleagues. In the field of business, it is time for a fresh innings."
Sources close to the Tendulkar family verify that Arjun will now be exploring the realm of entrepreneurship, with first ideas to build a sports and wellness company. Working on a project combining fitness technology with athlete management—a field of increasing interest in India—he is believed to be.
Public Opinion: Harsh Truths and Sympathy
While some on social media felt sorrow for Arjun, others saw this as an overdue move. “He tried; but, cricket isn’t for everyone,”.
Experts on cricket were also split. Some commended his bravery in leaving the sport instead of launching a profession predicated on relationships. Others attacked the system that handed him repeated chances while more worthy young cricket players battled for possibilities.
A Life Beyond the Limit
Arjun Tendulkar’s story will remain a stark reminder of how lineage cannot substitute for performance. He may have failed as a cricketer, but his willingness to start afresh in another field shows maturity and self-awareness. As he transitions into business, the world will watch — perhaps with less pressure — how he builds his own legacy, this time not with a bat and ball, but with strategy and vision.
THIS FELLOW WILL FAIL EVEN IN BUSINESS because the taxes were avoided by his father giving false premise that he was amateur cricketer for saving on taxes, stooping so low even after acquiring such high status in society is mark of wanting morality.
