But how do we provide good education to Indians ? Most schools in India are in an appalling condition.
Baba Ramdev, till recently a staunch supporter of the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, has now said in a statement that schoolchildren in India are complaining that there are no teachers, no electricity, no water, and no toilets in their schools. If there are teachers, there are no text books. There is cheating in examinations, and paper leaks.

The terrible condition of a large number of schools in India is depicted in the video below of a high school in a village in district Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh :
The same can be said of tens of thousands of schools in India, which are in a pitiable condition. Many government schools in India have severe shortcomings, including broken infrastructure, lack of electricity or clean water, shortage of teachers, etc. Reports show thousands of schools lack functional toilets or basic learning aids, driving a steady drop in public school enrollment. Reports frequently highlight broken desks, missing windows, unsafe roof structures, and severe classroom overcrowding.
How does one solve this problem ?
The Rajasthan government has devised an ingenious answer.
To prevent people knowing about the shocking conditions in government schools, the Rajasthan government has recently banned entry of outsiders or the media in these schools, except by prior permission from the principal or the head of the institution ( which will rarely be given ).
This reminds one of what Laxmanji said to Parshuramji in Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas, when the latter was furious at the former, and asked people to get him out of his sight :
‘मूदहु आंख कतहुं कुछ नाहीं’
i.e.
‘ Close your eyes, and then there is nothing ‘.
So Indians, follow the brilliant Rajasthan government solution. Turn a Nelson’s eye to what is going on in your schools. After all, it is the government’s business, none of yours.
