To my grieving subcontinent : Nil Desperandum Semper Fidendum
By Justice Katju
Most people of the Indian subcontinent ( Indians, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis, who are really one nation, but have been artificially divided in 1947 by a British swindle on the basis of the bogus two nation theory ) are morose, morbid, despondent and dispirited. The vast majority are leading miserable lives, and they see darkness all around, despite the fictitious claims by some that there is light,
The truth about India is as described in the links below :

In India, our political leaders, of all parties, are a set of rogues, rascals, gangsters, criminals, looters, and deceivers, a worthless lot who have no genuine love for the people, but only seek power and pelf, and polarise society by inciting caste and communal hatred for securing their vote banks.
In Pakistan, the real ruler is the army, whose senior officers have amassed fortunes by looting the country

As regards the civilians who came to power in Pakistan, e.g. Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari, they were a gang of dacoits, as disclosed by the Panama Papers and other material.
Despite this wretched, depressing, and sordid state of affairs, I still say to the people of the Indian subcontinent : Nil desperandum, semper fidendum ( do not despair, but always have faith ).
Why do I say that ?
I say it because it is a law of nature that after a dark night comes a dawn, after a winter comes a spring, after a storm comes a clear open sky.
Historical experience also shows that when a country is in a crisis, great leaders emerge who show the people the way out of their predicament, e.g. Moses who led the people of Israel out of the Egyptian captivity, Oliver Cromwell and Winston Churchill who led the British people in their darkest hours, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson who led the Americans in their War of Independence, and Abraham Lincoln who led them in the Civil War, Robespierre who guided the French people in the French Revolution, Lenin in the Russian Revolution, and Mao tse Tung in the Chinese Revolution. Our future wise leaders, who are presently anonymous, will also emerge
So after the terrible times our country is passing through, with massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of child malnutrition, almost total lack of proper healthcare and good education for the masses, skyrocketing prices of food and other essential commodities, it is inevitable that a prosperous India will arise, with its people enjoying a high standard of living and leading decent lives.

But this will not happen automatically. Tremendous sacrifices will have to be made by the people before we achieve our goal of a prosperous India.

The people of the Indian subcontinent have learned, after being befooled and kicked around for over 77 years, that the ‘Independence’ of 1947 was a sham, and no real independence. Real independence is independence from poverty, hunger, unemployment, lack of healthcare, and good education, which are still far off. They have realized that a real freedom struggle from foreign rule, which would have resulted in creating a prosperous India, could only have been an armed struggle, led by our real freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Surya Sen (Masterda), Bismil, Ashfaqulla, Rajguru, Khudiram Bose, and others, and not the fake ‘freedom struggle’ led by that reactionary deceiver and British agent Gandhi, which led to the phony ‘Independence’ we got in 1947, which has kept our masses poor and miserable even till today.
The ‘democracy’ we got under our Constitution of 1950 was a fraud and bogus, designed to deceive the people into thinking they had become the rulers of the country. In reality, it is only vote bank politics, craftily manipulated by our crooked politicians, who seek power and personal gain. They take advantage of the low intellectual understanding of the masses and the tremendous casteism and communalism prevailing among them to polarize society and incite hatred among castes and communities to win elections.
It is only now that the Indian masses, through their bitter experiences, are gradually learning the truth. They realize that real freedom is freedom from poverty, hunger, unemployment, lack of healthcare, etc., and that the solutions to their huge problems lie outside the system, not within it. To achieve this, they must wage a mighty united people’s struggle to create a modern and just political and social order. The people are the real power source, as explained below :
To wage this historical people’s struggle successfully, the Indian masses must change their mindsets, rise above casteism and communalism (something very difficult and painful), learn who their real friends and enemies are, and make tremendous sacrifices.

The vested interests, both internal and external, in the present order will not easily give up their hold. They will seek to retain the status quo by polarizing society, inciting hatred among the people, and putting up fierce resistance.
But our goal must be clear. We must attain our objective of creating a highly industrialized, highly modern India where our people enjoy a high standard of living, whatever the cost and however great the sacrifices needed to attain it. To achieve this, we have to establish a social and political order that promotes rapid industrialization and modernization. Our people should enjoy a high standard of living and decent lives, with employment, healthcare, good education, nutritious food, and no social discrimination against women, dalits, minorities, etc.
For waging this historical people’s struggle, the enlightened sections of our people must use all their creativity and devise forms of struggle, as were devised in the great British, American, French, Russian, and Chinese Revolutions by the great modern-minded, brave, and self-sacrificing leaders of those countries. Only then can we achieve real independence and a prosperous India.
Paraphrasing the words of Winston Churchill, let us therefore brace ourselves to our duty, and so bear ourselves, that if the Indian nation lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, ” This was their finest hour ”

So people of the Indian subcontinent : do not despair, but have faith, which is an assurance that we will achieve what we desire and hope for, and the conviction of what will surely transpire in the future, though we do not presently see it. It is this faith which will inspire our people to do heroic deeds, and face fearful odds
