Varun Dhawan Walks Out of Tanmay Bhat’s Show After Brutal Roast and Insult

I know how easy it is to get caught up in the dramatic internet headlines and why you might think it could get heated! But, I have to correct this rumour: Varun Dhawan walked out of Tanmay Bhat’s show, but it was quite a bit later.

The truth was actually that this was not the case. Varun was willing to take the jibes like a pro and it was definitely a very humorous episode. The actual events that occurred on the YouTube panel:

The Box Office Roast

Tanmay did indeed throw a heavy roast Varun’s way. He took a shot at the marketing campaign of Varun’s new film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, likening it to the “monumental” and “record-breaking” success of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar franchise. In a jibe, Tanmay said it took “some kind of optimism” to work so hard “only” to generate 1% of Dhurandhar’s box office figures.

Varun didn’t get upset and left, instead he laughed sportingly. He was truthful to that extent, saying that from the time of Dhurandhar’s release, everyone in the industry is finding themselves under a lot of pressure of saying, ‘ki bhai hum bhi kuch na kuch karle’ (brother, we also have to do something).

The “Don 3” Punchline

The most viral take from the episode in fact was a little dig at the highly talked about and controversial Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 exit by Ranveer Singh.

Talking about his reputation, Tanmay said that Varun is always considered as a professional, dedicated and reliable person, even though he is a big star in the industry. That was followed by Tanmay’s knockout punch line: “Which is incidentally, exactly the kind of actor that Farhan Akhtar is looking for right now. I don’t know, maybe you should…”

The Reaction

The entire room including fellow comedians Rohan Joshi, Piyush Sharma, Zakir Khan was in stitches after this joke. Varun did not walk away, he was just as much a part of the fun, laughing out loud, and repeating “Main Tera Don!” again and again.

No hurt feelings here and no walkouts! It was merely a fun lighthearted comedy hour and Varun has a wonderful knack for cracking a joke on himself.
