As a joke I had put up a fb post saying ” Why cant Bengalis find a good husband for Mamata Banerjee ? ”
I had thought Bengalis have a sense of humour and would enjoy the joke.
Instead, most of the more that 700 comments ( mostly from Bengalis ) castigated me, using all kinds of derogatory language ( many which I can’t repeat ) so that I had to delete the post.
It reminded me of Biharis, who instead of enjoying my joke that since Pakistanis want Kashmir, we should give it to them provided they take Bihar also, took umbrage at the joke.
It also reminded me of Odiyas who took offence when as a joke I said that ever since the thrashing Odiyas got at the hands of Emperor Ashok in the battle of Kalinga over 2000 years ago they have been a depressed lot.
It is dangerous to joke in India
A TMC leader has threatened to slap me. Earlier, Biharis and Odiyas had taken out processions against me, blackened my posters and hanged my effigies. FIRs were also filed against me by political leaders ( though the policemen, having better sense of humor, took no action )
