I have not seen the book, nor do I intend to attend the function, but I have sent this note to Shashi Tharoor :
The real purpose of the Indian Constitution is to deceive the Indian people into believing :
(1) India is a democracy, in which the people are the rulers, when the truth is that people are being ruled by a handful of crooks, who deceive and exploit the people.

Our politicians, of all parties, have no idea how to solve the people’s huge socio-economic problems of massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of chlld malnutrition, skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, almost total lack of healthcare and good education, for the masses, etc, nor do they have any genuine interest in solving them.

All our politicians seek is power and pelf, for which they polarise society and spread caste and communal hatred, to get votes.

(2) The people have certain fundamental rights mentioned in the Constitution, when the truth is that these rights exist largely on paper only.
https://indicanews.com/justice-markandey-katju-why-i-dont-celebrate-on-republic-day
Poverty is destructive of all rights, and there is massive poverty, unemployment, malnutrition etc in India. What does freedom of speech in Article 19(1)(a), liberty in Article 21, right to do business in Article 19(1)(g), etc mean to a man who is poor, hungry, and/or unemployed ? It means nothing.
The judiciary was supposed to be the guardian of the Constitution and protector of the people’s rights and liberties, but what has been its performance we all know

(3) The people can abolish the horrible socio-economic conditions prevalent in India ( mentioned above ) by parliamentary democracy, when the truth is that parliamentary democracy runs largely on the basis of casteism and communalism, which are feudal forces which have to be destroyed if India is to progress, but parliamentary democracy further entrenches them ( because it largely runs on their basis). So parliamentary democracy cannot bring about any significant improvement in the people’s lives, rather it is a big barrier preventing such change.
The truth, from which Indian politicians ( of all parties ), our so called ‘intellectuals’, and our largely worthless media, run, like cockroaches running from light, is that India’s massive socio-economic problems can only be solved by a mighty protracted united people’s struggle ( jan sangharsh ), in which tremendous sacrifices have to be made.

This struggle must be led by genuinely patriotic, modern minded leaders, and culminate in a historical people’s revolution ( jan kranti ), after which a political and social order will be set up under which there will be rapid industrialization, steady rise in the standard of living of the people, and people start getting decent lives

Shashi Tharoor, who is a true politician ( pretending in addition to be a self styled ‘intellectual’ ) will run away from these truths. After all, he has to take care of his political career
