Yash Was Once Nervous About Romantic Scenes

Yash is well-known for his powerful action-oriented roles after the huge success of KGF: Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2. Generally, the K.G.F star is known for playing larger-than-life, formidable characters onscreen. However, he had previously revealed that romance wasn’t one of them!

In a candid chat on the chat show of fellow actor Ramesh Aravind-Weekend With Ramesh-Yash revealed that he felt nervous while filming love-related scenes in the early stages of his career.

He was even surprised when viewers complimented his onscreen romance and said people around him, including his wife Radhika, often giggled at him when he acted romantic. The comment now seems relevant in context, given how he has a very prominent romantic plot line with Kiara Advani in Toxic.

Kiara and Yash Share a Very Different Chemistry in Toxic

Toxic is a Geetu Mohandas directorial starring Yash in the lead role along with Kiara Advani as the female lead character named Nadia. The ensemble cast of the film also includes Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. The story unfolds during an era when Goa was a Portuguese province and focuses on a man who gets entangled with the underworld.

The film is set to incorporate action, crime, familial relationships and romance.

Although the makers have managed to keep most of the plot under wraps, the release of the song Tabaahi offered fans their first glimpse of the duo onscreen. In the song’s music video, Yash and Kiara are seen indulging in various romantic gestures including walks on old streets, cosy moments on a beach, a passionate kiss in a vintage car and romantic serenades in the rain. They are also seen sharing a joyful ride on a Ferris wheel and with each other inside a retro red convertible. The visuals are deliberately aestheticised to have a retro vibe with classic cars, ancient buildings, and a deep, intense romantic ambience.

Yash Had His Own Rules About Such Scenes

Yash has never shied away from discussing his limits in terms of romantic or intimate portrayals on screen. The actor once revealed that if he wouldn’t be comfortable watching a particular scene with his parents beside him, he would avoid doing it as a general rule. It was all about being mindful of not just his own comfort but the audience’s comfort as well.

This statement is now back in the spotlight thanks to Tabaahi’s more explicit romantic segments than anything fans may have previously associated with the K.G.F star’s romantic tracks in his earlier films.

Recently, he also commented on the response of his wife, Radhika Pandit, towards such intimate moments in Toxic, stating that while he understands the potential discomfort a partner might feel, Radhika trusts his judgment and clearly separates Yash the actor from the character he embodies.

Radhika Pandit’s Reaction

Married since 2016 with two children, Yash and Radhika Pandit’s relationship is well known among fans as Radhika is also an actress. During a recent media interaction for the film, Yash spoke about the sensitive nature of the intimacy in Toxic. He candidly said that he’d understand if any partner felt uneasy viewing such scenes.

Nevertheless, he clarified that Radhika’s trust is absolute and she differentiates between his on-screen role and real life.

The actor further acknowledged that these scenes stretched his personal boundaries to an extent but felt they were crucial for the storytelling and character development. This is one of the main highlights that have generated buzz around the film, especially given Yash’s earlier statements about his hesitancy regarding romantic enactments.

Kiara Also Faced Attention Over Tabaahi

The release of Tabaahi has put a spotlight not just on Yash but also on Kiara Advani. Following the song’s launch, there was a significant amount of online debate revolving around the romantic scenes.A notable aspect of the criticism focused on Kiara being a married woman (to Sidharth Malhotra). English actor Benedict Garrett, who also stars in the film, commented on this, calling it a double standard, as Yash is also married but did not face as much flak.

Garrett emphasized that both actors were simply doing their job and shouldn’t be judged based on their marital status.

This discourse has added yet another dimension to the anticipation for the film, even before its release.

Yash Praises Kiara’s Work

Yash has repeatedly come out in support of Kiara throughout the promotion of Toxic. At the film’s music launch event, he lauded her dedication and professionalism, revealing that she worked tirelessly throughout her pregnancy for the movie. He, along with the film’s director Geetu Mohandas, reportedly ensured her safety and well-being on set.

He jokingly referred to himself and Mohandas as her “bouncers and bodyguards.”

He also mentioned that performing a rain sequence was a first for Kiara in her career.

Toxic Has Been Delayed Several Times

The excitement and attention surrounding Yash and Kiara also comes after a prolonged wait for the film. Toxic was first announced in 2023 and has been postponed a few times since then. Initially slated for a release in April 2025, its date was pushed to March 2026, then June 2026, before settling for August 26, 2026.

The film, which was filmed in Kannada and English, is set to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

It is directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash himself, who also co-wrote the film.

Tabaahi Has Changed the Picture

Prior to the song Tabaahi, the focus surrounding Toxic was mostly on its grandiose scale, star-studded cast, and Yash’s much-anticipated return to the big screen after the K.G.F franchise. However, the song shifted that spotlight, showcasing a more romantic and sensual side of Yash, along with his chemistry with Kiara. This, coupled with discussions about Yash’s past discomfort with romance and his wife’s stance on intimate scenes, has created a significant buzz around one of Bollywood’s most watched on-screen pairs. For now, the actors are busy with promotions as Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups heads for a theatrical release on August 26th.
