BMC Initiates Legal Action against Dhurandhar 2 production house.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formally taken the first steps to blacklist B62 Studios, the production studio headed by a movie director, Aditya Dhar, after a series of alleged safety breaches on the set of the new film, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. The reports by the civic body state that the decision was caused by the frequent utilization of unauthorized inflammable material in night shoots at South Mumbai. Although the Deputy Municipal Commissioner (DMC) of Zone 1 has purportedly granted the proposal, a letter conveying the long-term extension of inquiring about shooting permission is likely to be dispatched in the current week.

The outrage was allegedly about a shoot that was held in the historic Fort on February 14, 2026. Civic officials asserted that, even though there was a written commitment that effects of fire would be actually added in the post-production using VFX, the crew used five lit torches, or mashals, on the ground. At some time, at around 12.45 AM, after a complaint made by a nearby resident that the fire was hazardous, police and BMC maintenance staff entered the premises, grabbed the equipment and gave them a verbal warning. This accident is supposed to be a continuation of a prior warning of using crackers and fire related material on a shoot that was issued on February 7.
Criminal and Economic Fines on Filmmakers.
Besides the blacklisting, the BMC has proceeded to seize the security deposit of the production house of 25,000 and has suggested an extra 1 lakh. The Assistant Commissioner of the A-Ward requested these actions and claimed that the production team had absolutely breached the terms and conditions, prescribed by the police department. Reports show that the penalty extends to other illegitimate acts as well such as filming on the terrace of a building and using two generator vans without the required municipal clearances.
The blacklisting is specifically made on B62 Studios and two applicants (Komal Pokhriyal and Nasir Khan) who had signed the safety undertakings. As per the suggested sanctions, these parties will never be allowed to apply to obtain filming permissions using the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation online portal. Although this is a major regulatory hit, there were industry sources indicating that the production might come out of the ban, by seeking future permits under a different partner or a fourth applicant, e.g., co-producer Jio Studios.
All India Cine Workers Association Curses Indifference.
A powerful statement to defend the action of the BMC has been issued by the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA), in which it denounced what it called gross negligence in the Dhurandhar 2 incident by the crew. AICWA President, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta alleged that these safety failures endangered the lives of hundreds of technicians and laborers. The association claimed that no production house was above the law and requested the government to carry out more serious checks in all film sets of Mumbai to ensure that there were no repeat accidents in terms of fire and building collapses.
The association reaction describes an increasing tension between the large-budget “spy action” movies and domestic safety codes. AICWA says that frequent accidents at the Goregaon Film City and other studios are acting as the painful memories of the hazards of the employees when safety standards are compromised in the name of cinematic realism. The body has demanded instant responsibility saying that the dignity and the safety of the industry workers cannot be sacrificed on the altar and more so in the high-pressure setting which the big franchise sequels are highly characterized by.
Effect on Release Schedule and Future Filming.
Although the administrative difficulties have been extremely painful, those involved with the production alleged that the blacklisting has not been able to lead to a postponement of the shooting timeline. Dhurandhar 2 is a Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt and R. Madhavan film that is presently set to open big on March 19, 2026. According to the production team, it is planning to complete the remaining parts of Mumbai by seeking other legal avenues to allow them to get permission. But other industry analysts opined that the greater questioning by the BMC and the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee would result in the logistical bottlenecks that would eventually affect the target date.
Statement by the B62 studios has been minimal with a spokesperson refusing to comment on the particular blacklisting notices. In the meantime, the situation is being followed with keen attention by the fans and investors since the movie is the direct follow-up of the 2025 blockbuster Dhurandhar, which allegedly made colossal profits at the box office. In the event that the production fails to acquire the remaining locations in Mumbai, then the team might have to relocate the shoot to other cities, which would probably increase the budget of the two-part film series, which is already very large.
