I have often said that the test of every political act or political system is one, and only one : does it raise the standard of living of the people ? Does it give them better lives ?
Once we keep this firmly in mind, we will realize that most of the issues nowadays being highlighted by the largely sold out Indian media are totally irrelevant to the people, for they have no bearing on the lives of the Indian masses. I may give some examples :
(1) Is the Waqt Amendment Act, 2025, about which there is so much hue and cry, really relevant to the Muslims ?
The poor Muslims, who are the majority in India ( as the Sachar Committee Report disclosed) find it difficult even to buy food and other essential commodities. Where is the money with them to create waqfs ? In fact even very few middle class Muslims have created waqfs, as I came to know on enquiries.
So the hue and cry about the Waqf Amendment Act is really much ado about nothing. The Act has made no difference in the lives of Indian Muslims, so it is really irrelevant to the Muslim masses.
The opposition parties who are shouting themselves hoarse against the Act, are really doing so with an eye on the Muslim vote bank, not because they have any genuine concern for the welfare of Muslims.
(2) BJP MP Nishikant Dube’s allegations against CJI Sanjiv Khanna, and the controversy about it, whether it amounted to contempt of court or not, etc has no bearing on the lives on the Indian masses. So it is irrelevant
(3) Whether the Indian Supreme Court committed overreach in it’s decision in State of Tamilnadu vs Governor of Tamilnadu, as alleged by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, has nothing to do with the lives of the Indian masses. So it is irrelevant.
(4) What happens in the forthcoming Bihar elections is wholly irrelevant to the people of Bihar, since whatever be the result, it will only be a change of leaders, but massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of child malnutrition, almost total lack of proper healthcare and good education for the masses etc will continue unabated.
As Manthara said to Kaikeyi in Ramcharitamanas :
” Koi nrip hoye hamein ka haani
Cheri chhaadi ki hoib rani “
i.e.
” How does it matter to me who will be the king
Will I cease to be a slave, and become a queen ? “
(5) These days a struggle is going on in West Bengal between Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and the BJP. But whether TMC remains in power or is replaced by the BJP will make no difference in the lives of the people, since poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, price rise, lack of proper healthcare etc will continue as before irrespective of who is in power
(6) Omar Abdullah’s becoming Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was really irrelevant, because it had no effect on the lives of the people of J&K, just as abrogation of Article 370 was irrelevant because it had no effect on the socio-economic condition of the people of J&K
Thus almost all the issues being discussed and highlighted by our media are irrelevant to the people, as they have no bearing on the lives of the people.
Why does the media not focus on the real problems of massive poverty, unemployment, child malnutrition, lack of healthcare, etc ? Evidently because the media owners have given instructions, at the instance of the political leaders who are in power, that the attention of the people must be diverted from the real issues.
So the whole game is to keep the people’s attention away from the real issues, and kept engrossed in non issues like petty politics, lives of filmstars, cricket, fashion parades, astrology, etc, in accordance with the maxim of the Roman Emperors ” If you cannot give the people bread, give them circuses “
